In 2020, The Oregon Funders for Fiscal Health and Equity Circle (OFFHEC) proposed a public-private partnership with the State of Oregon to support the development of community-led solutions to address the state’s structural budget deficit.
The Fiscal Future Workgroups will include a cross-sector team of local leaders: Elected City, County and Tribal leaders, school principals and superintendents, business and non-profit executives, culturally-specific community leaders, regional economic development managers, and elected labor representatives. Each regional team will step through a facilitated progression of conversations designed to:
Share impartial and accessible information about regional fiscal health and the structural budget deficits facing state and local governments.
Align shared values among regional community leaders and identify desired outcomes.
Evaluate options for intervention (from policy concepts to civic leadership)
Develop a prioritized set of options for legislative evaluation.
Share findings and priorities in local, round-table discussions with a joint committee of the legislature in the fall of 2020
