In 2020, The Oregon Funders for Fiscal Health and Equity Circle (OFFHEC) proposed a public-private partnership with the State of Oregon to support the development of community-led solutions to address the state’s structural budget deficit.

The Fiscal Future Workgroups will include a cross-sector team of local leaders: Elected City, County and Tribal leaders, school principals and superintendents, business and non-profit executives, culturally-specific community leaders, regional economic development managers, and elected labor representatives. Each regional team will step through a facilitated progression of conversations designed to:

  • Share impartial and accessible information about regional fiscal health and the structural budget deficits facing state and local governments.

  • Align shared values among regional community leaders and identify desired outcomes.

  • Evaluate options for intervention (from policy concepts to civic leadership)

  • Develop a prioritized set of options for legislative evaluation.

  • Share findings and priorities in local, round-table discussions with a joint committee of the legislature in the fall of 2020
